If everything goes according to plan, the Chief Minister's secretariat is set to move into the Writers' Buildings (Mahakaran) before Mahalaya. The Chief Minister, Chief Secretary, Home Secretary, Director General of State Police, and Kolkata Police Commissioner will all run their office based from here. As the state administration aims to complete the final preparations before Mahalaya. As the auspicious *Devi Paksha* begins, state administration is set to be conducted from the historic Mahakaran building (Writers' Building) under the leadership of Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari. A crucial meeting regarding this matter was held at Nabanna on Monday. It has been decided that surveillance of Mahakaran (Writers' Building) will be carried out using drones. Additionally, the entire Mahakaran (Writers' Building) complex will be brought under comprehensive CCTV coverage.

 

On the other hand, entry into the Mahakaran(Writers' Building) is restricted to those possessing photo identity cards and prior authorization. A stringent security perimeter is being established. At the same time, VVIPs will now be able to reach the Mahakaran(Writers' Building) easily. From the British colonial era, this historic edifice known as 'Writers' Buildings' remains a structure of renown and admiration across the globe.

 

The BJP led state government is set to return to run from the historic 'Mahakaran' (Writers' Building). Apart from the Chief Minister's Secretariat, 12 (twelve) other departments are slated to be housed there. However, the final list of departments to be accommodated in this heritage building has not yet been determined or finalised. Though the Office for Department of Information and Cultural Affairs will be present there from day one.

 

The Chief Minister's office and secretariat, along with the offices of the Chief Secretary, Home Secretary, and the Director General (DG), will be located at the very top Floor of Mahakaran (Writers' Buildings). Sources at Nabanna indicate that a dedicated room is also being allocated for the Kolkata Police Commissioner. Mahakaran (Writers' Buildings) access will be strictly controlled. It is now only a matter of time before Writers' Buildings or Mahakaran returns to its former glory.
