SOCIO ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT OF SIKH COMMUNITY

The Ministry of Minority affairs is implementing Pradhan Mantri Virasat Ka Samvardhan (PM VIKAS) schemes to improve the socio-economic and educational status of the six notified minority communities across India. PM VIKAS Scheme is a Central Sector Scheme of this Ministry, and no state wise allocation has been made under the scheme. The scheme is implemented through eligible Project Implementing Agencies (PIAs), Government institutions, Central and State PSUs, Minority Community Institutions, Institutions of National Importance and Institutions of Eminence selected by the Ministry for implementation of various components such as Skilling and Training, Leadership and Entrepreneurship and Education.

Under PM VIKAS Scheme, a total of 59 PIAs have been allocated a target of 1.56 lakh beneficiaries across 31 States/UTs, out of which a total target of 31,600 candidates were allocated to Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC). So far, under PM VIKAS scheme training of 32,138 candidates has been completed, out of which 11,217 candidates are from Sikh community, comprising of 5655 men and 5562 women. Additionally, under various loan schemes of National Minority Development and Finance Corporation (NMDFC), an amount of Rs. 15.19 crore has been disbursed to 972 beneficiaries belonging to Sikh community during financial year 2025–26.
