Smart India Hackathon 2025-Grand Finale at National Institute of Technology, Durgapur

The National Institute of Technology, Durgapur successfully conducted the Pre-Event Press Meeting for the Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2025-Grand Finale on 07 December 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Senate Hall of the institute.
 
The session served as an official briefing for the press and media, outlining the significance, scate, and preparedness for hosting one of India's largest innovation-driven national events.
 
The Smart India Hackathon (SIH) is one of India's most influential national innovation initiatives, jointly organised by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the Ministry of Education's Innovation Cell (MIC). 
 
The initiative aims to address real-life societal and industrial challenges. Encourage implementable, technology-driven solutions. Build strong student-industry-government collaboration. Promote entrepreneurship and start-up culture among youth.
 
Since its inception, SIH has empowered lakhs of students and strengthened India's position as a global hub of young innovators.The 2025 edition has witnessed a record-breaking scale:
271 problem statements,
72,165 ideas submitted,
68,766 teams participating nationwide.
 
These numbers reflect the creativity, passion, and innovation potential of India's student community.
 
SIH 2025 holds exceptional national importance and will be inaugurated on 08 December 2025 at 08:00 AM in virtual mode by Honourable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, Honourable Union Education Minister, Chairperson, AICTE.
 
This national-level inauguration highlights the government's commitment to fostering youth innovation and digital transformation. Academic and research excellence. Advanced technical infrastructure.Culture of innovation and collaborative problem-solving.
 
At this nodal centre, teams from different states will compete on four nationally significant problem statements, each requiring innovation, coding expertise, design thinking, and execution capability.
 
Problem Statements Allocated to NIT Durgapur
1. Document Overload at Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL)-An Automated Solution.
2. Al-Driven Train Induction Planning & Scheduling for Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL).
3. Development of a Travel-Related Mobile Application for Capturing Trip Information.
4. Digital Health Record Management System for Migrant Workers in Kerala - Aligned with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The dignitaries emphasized nurturing creativity, promoting innovation, and ensuring that students gain meaningful exposure through this grand national initiative.
 
The event concluded with an engaging Q&A session where media representatives discussed logistics, team participation, judging mechanisms, and innovation outcomes. NIT Durgapur expressed gratitude to the media fraternity for their continued support in promoting the spirit of innovation and contributing to the success of SIH 2025.
