Death of a man by suicide after a heated exchange linked to the ensuing Special Intensive Revision with his 'divorced' wife confused the officials and the members of two families in East Burdwan today.

The divorced wife had come to her former husband's house to collect her EPIC that she'd left during separation. She required the EPIC to submit the enumeration form of SIR, the woman told police today.

The hanging body of 32 year old Ajay Mandi was recovered from his house at Masalandapur in Kalna this morning and the police shifted the body to the Kalna Sub Divisional Hospital for autopsy. Ajay was found hanging from a bamboo log of the hood structure of his hut wearing a gamchha (desi towel). He was staying there with his 12 year old daughter.

Ajay's wife Kavita departed four years ago leaving their eight years old daughter at Masalandapur and married another youth of neighbouring Shakhati village. As stated Vijay Mandi, deceased's brother: "She's a cruel woman who had deserted her minor daughter and never felt to inquire how the little girl was surviving so long. She came after years yesterday only for her own purpose, which my brother couldn't accept." He said that Ajay provided her the EPIC and soon flared up more when he saw Kablvita was talking to his daughter.

Vijay further added: "When Kavita vacated with her card, my brother scolded his daughter heavily on the plea - why was she talking to Kavita? I heard him shouting when he said that he's sacrificed his life for his daughter and never thought of getting married further, but his daughter insulted him as she was 'happily' talking to Kavita."

The depressed Ajay, as the family assume, he suffered a heavy mental shock. Rajiv Kumar, Additional Superintendent of Police for Kalna said: "I was yet to have further details on the issue and the autopsy of the body was done today."

Kavita, or her new husband Nirmal tried to console the bereaved daughter, but were denied access today.
