Shantanu Thakur hands over Appointment Letters at Rozgar Mela in Kolkata

The 18th Rozgar Mela under the Union Government’s Mission Mode Recruitment Drive was successfully organised today at the Headquarters of 74th Battalion, Border Security Force (BSF), Digberia, Madhyamgram, North 24 Parganas. Union Minister of State for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Shri Shantanu Thakur attended the event as the Chief Guest and handed over appointment letters to 25 newly recruited candidates.

A total of 100 candidates physically participated in the Rozgar Mela at the venue. Of these, 25 appointment letters were handed over by the Union Minister, while the remaining 75 appointment letters were distributed by other dignitaries and senior officers present at the event. 

The newly recruited personnel belong to various Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), including BSF, Assam Rifles (AR), CRPF, CISF, ITBP, SSB and Border Organisation Branch (BOB).

Senior BSF officers including Shri Bhupender Singh, Inspector General, BSF South Bengal Frontier, and Shri Manjinder Singh, Deputy Inspector General, BSF South Bengal Frontier, were present on the occasion. They encouraged them to discharge their duties with dedication, discipline and a spirit of national service.

The event was connected to the national Rozgar Mela programme through video conferencing, during which Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi addressed the gathering. The Prime Minister stated that the Rozgar Mela has evolved into an institution and, through this initiative, lakhs of young people have received appointment letters in various government departments across the country. He reiterated the Government’s unwavering commitment to empowering the youth and creating large-scale employment opportunities.

In addition to the physical distribution of appointment letters at the venue, 2,815 appointment letters were dispatched through e-mail and speed post, taking the total number of appointment letters issued from this centre to 2,915, including candidates from 75 other departments.

Background:

Rozgar Mela is a flagship initiative of the Government of India aimed at fast-tracking recruitment across Ministries and Departments in a mission mode. Since its inception, more than 11 lakh appointment letters have been issued nationwide.

The 18th Rozgar Mela was organised simultaneously at 45 locations across the country, with newly recruited candidates joining various government services, including the Central Armed Police Forces, contributing to nation-building and public service.
