‘SAMVAAD’ a session with staff engaged in On-Board Housekeeping Services

Asansol Division of Eastern Railway organised a Samvaad, a session with staff engaged in On-Board Housekeeping Services (OBHS), Pantry Car operations, Linen Distribution and Clean Train Station (CTS) teams. The programme aimed to reinforce standard procedures for onboard cleanliness, streamline garbage disposal practices and enhance overall service quality for passengers.

The session was held in the presence of the Chief Depot Officer ,Asansol, the Divisional Commercial Manager ,Asansol and the Assistant Commercial Manager (T C) ,Asansol. Supervisors from the Mechanical and Commercial Departments were also present. Senior officials reviewed the responsibilities of On-Board Housekeeping Services (OBHS) teams, Pantry Car staff, Linen Attendants and Clean Train Station (CTS) personnel and examined their adherence to prescribed cleanliness norms.
During the interaction, staff were counselled on waste segregation, timely disposal of garbage, maintenance of hygienic pantry workspaces, proper handling of linen and the upkeep of toilets and coach interiors throughout train journeys. Officials emphasised the need for courteous behaviour, sensitivity to passenger requirements and prompt action on complaints received through Rail Madad and other channels.
The programme highlighted key measures undertaken by Asansol Division to improve cleanliness standards, including mechanised coach cleaning at terminals, use of bio-toilets to prevent direct discharge on tracks and regular inspection of pantry cars and On-Board Housekeeping Services (OBHS) functioning.

The Samvaad provided frontline staff an opportunity to raise operational issues and seek guidance from divisional officials. Asansol Division reiterated that coordinated functioning among On-Board Housekeeping Services (OBHS), Pantry Car and Clean Train Station (CTS) teams is essential to ensure a hygienic and comfortable travel environment. The Division will continue to organise such structured review and counselling sessions to strengthen onboard services and further enhance cleanliness standards across trains under its jurisdiction.
