Salaries and pensions before Durga Puja; Finance Department notification

Nabanna has announced major good news for state government employees, pensioners, and beneficiaries of various government schemes right at the start of the festive season Durga Puja. With the upcoming Durga Puja in mind, the state government has decided to disburse salaries, wages, stipends, honorariums, and pensions for the month of October well ahead of schedule. All these funds will reach the recipients' bank accounts by October 15. The State Finance Department issued an urgent notification regarding this on last Wednesday.

According to sources at Nabanna, this decision will benefit not only employees directly under the state government but also, to an equal extent, staff members of various grant-in-aid institutions. Additionally, several hundred thousand retired state employees and family pensioners will receive their due pensions by October 15.

A memorandum issued by the State Finance Department that a special relaxation is being granted to the standing schedule for salary and pension disbursement, established in 2015, to accommodate the general public during the festive season. Furthermore, the recently announced hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) by the state government will also apply to this advance payment. In other words, the additional funds will reach employees and pensioners before the Durga Puja festivities begin.

The administration has already swung into action to ensure that this massive process is completed on the scheduled day without any hindrance. A notification from the Finance Department has issued strict instructions to all state treasuries and Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) across various government departments to promptly submit advance bills and the necessary documentation.

Spending on shopping and other related expenses rises significantly during the festive season. At this very juncture, millions of state government employees, pensioners, and their families will greatly benefit from this humane and timely decision by the state government.
