Passenger-Oriented Checking Drive Conducted by Commercial Department and Railway Protection Force
With the objective of providing passengers with a safe orderly and pleasant travel experience Asansol Division of Eastern Railway conducted a fortress check at Asansol Railway Station on 06 January 2026. The passenger-oriented drive was undertaken to encourage travel with valid tickets promote cleanliness and ensure proper use of railway facilities for the benefit of all commuters.
The checking drive was carried out with the support of 27 staff of the Commercial Department under the guidance of two officers Divisional Commercial Manager and the Assistant Commercial Manager. The operation was supported by 10 personnel of the Railway Protection Force led by an RPF Inspector. Checks were conducted smoothly at entry gates exit gates Foot Over Bridges and station platforms with staff assisting and guiding passengers wherever required to avoid inconvenience.
During the fortress check passengers were politely checked for valid travel authority and action was taken against ticketless and irregular travel unbooked luggage littering and spitting as well as misuse of railway passes. Awareness was simultaneously created among passengers regarding the importance of maintaining cleanliness and following railway rules.
During the drive a total of 192 cases were detected resulting in total earnings of ?69,900. This included 181 penalty cases amounting to ?68,300, 7 cases of spitting amounting to ?1,400 and 4 cases of unbooked luggage amounting to ?200. The results reflect improved compliance and positive cooperation from passengers during the drive.
Such fortress checks are undertaken to ensure that bona fide passengers receive better services cleaner station surroundings and a comfortable journey while discouraging irregular travel practices including littering and spitting. The initiative also helps in maintaining a safe orderly and passenger-friendly station environment.
Asansol Division appeals to passengers to travel with valid tickets keep station premises clean avoid littering and spitting book luggage as prescribed and extend cooperation to railway staff thereby contributing collectively to a pleasant safe and hassle-free rail travel experience.
