National Institute of Technology (NIT) Durgapur is proud to announce that its Director, Prof. Arvind Choubey, has been appointed as the Domain Expert in the Standing Committee on Environment Impact Appraisal (SCEIA) constituted by the Department of Environment, Government of West Bengal. The SCEIA has been constituted to undertake the appraisal of applications for Environmental Clearance for Category B projects in West Bengal, discharging the statutory responsibilities envisaged under the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Notification, 2006, until the reconstitution of the State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA) and the State Expert Appraisal Committee (SEAC).
Prof. Choubey has been inducted into the Committee (SCEIA) in the capacity of Domain Expert, joining a distinguished panel comprising senior officers of the Government of West Bengal, including representatives from the Environment Department, the West Bengal Pollution Control Board, the Forest Department, and the Directorate of Health Services.
Prof. Choubey’s appointment is a recognition of his distinguished academic leadership, technical expertise, and contributions to environmental and engineering research. Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Arvind Choubey expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve in this important capacity and reaffirmed his commitment to contributing towards a transparent, scientifically rigorous, and sustainable environmental appraisal framework for the State of West Bengal.
