NIT Durgapur Celebrates Independence Day Eve with Voluntary Blood Donation Camp and Har Ghar Tiranga Padayatra

The Karmachari Samiti of the National Institute of Technology Durgapur (NITD) successfully organized "Freedom’s Eve: Gift of Life," a mega event featuring a Voluntary Blood Donation Camp and a vibrant Har Ghar Tiranga Padayatra on 14th August, 2026. The patriotic initiative saw enthusiastic participation from over 500 members of the NITD family, including faculty, staff, students, and other key stakeholders.

The program commenced at 10:00 AM with the formal felicitation of the dignitaries and the Chief Guest, Prof. Arvind Choubey, Director of NIT Durgapur. Prof. Srikrishan Rai delivered an inspiring inaugural speech, setting a patriotic and community-focused tone for the day.

The event was presided over by Mr. Manas Das, President of the Karmachari Samiti. Mr. Gokul Behari Nanda, General Secretary, expressed heartfelt thoughts on behalf of the Executive Committee and general members, emphasizing the samiti's commitment to social causes and national pride and also sharing the vision behind this initiative.
In his address, Chief Guest Prof. Arvind Choubey lauded the Karmachari Samiti for bringing the campus community together for such a noble cause. Following the Director's valuable speech, the high-energy Tiranga Padayatra commenced, led proudly by members of the Karmachari Samiti holding the national flag.

Concurrently, the Voluntary Blood Donation Camp received an overwhelming response, with more than 40 donors successfully contributing to the "Gift of Life." To honor their selfless contribution, all blood donors were felicitated with certificates and memento of appreciation. The event concluded on a high note, beautifully blending the spirit of independence with community welfare.
