NABS One person with Foreign Liquor during “OPERATION SATARK”

Under the ongoing “Operation Satark” to ensure passenger safety and curb illegal activities, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Asansol Division successfully apprehended a person carrying foreign liquor illegally on board Train No. 12331 (Himgiri Express) on 12 November 2025.
 
Acting on information from Security Control/Asansol, the escorting party of the train detained a suspicious passenger carrying a plastic bag suspected to contain liquor. On arrival of the train at Asansol station, the RPF team from Post/Asansol (West) promptly attended the train and deboarded the individual near the Pay & Use toilet at platform no. 4.
 
The bag was checked in the presence of escorting staff and found to contain 30 bottles of Old Monk XXX Premium Rum (750 ml each). The person failed to produce any valid documents and admitted that the liquor was being transported to an alcohol-prohibited area.
 
The liquor was seized following due legal formalities and the individual was brought to RPF Post/Asansol (West). Later, the seized items and the person were handed over to GRPS/Asansol for further legal action under the provisions of the Bengal Excise Act.
