Medic's rape: Masked girl helped TI parade in Jail
What the much awaited Test Identification Parade of the five gang rape accused youths by the victim girl revealed - couldn't be ascertained today and the officials said, the matter will be brought to public in the Court after three more days on Monday.
The scheduled TI parade was conducted inside the Sub -Correctional Home in Durgapur this afternoon in the presence of the judicial executives.
The victim girl - a second year medical student of IQ City Medical College here was taken to the Correctional Home at around 12:15 pm by the Investigating Officer of the case, Gautam Biswas of the New Township Police Station from her rented accommodation. Her face was covered under the mask. The victim's mother also accompanied her up to the Correctional Home's gate.
The five - Riazuddin Sheikh, Safikul Sheikh, Dipu Bauri, Firdos Sheikh and Nasiruddin Sheikh - all residents of local Bijra village were arrested in two phases by the police on gang rape and snatching charges after the girl's father lodged a complaint on 11 October. The complaint stated that the 23 year old girl hailing from Jaleshwar in Baleswar district of Odhisa was gang raped inside the Parangunj forest- about a km from her college campus on 10 October late evening when she accompanied her boyfriend Wasif Ali there after 9 pm. The girls' snatched cellphone was recovered from the possession of Firdos Sheikh.
Wasif's TI parade, according to the officials, wasn't required, as she's already known to the victim girl.
Wasif also was arrested on 14 October, after the girl, in her official statement claimed that her boyfriend had molested her in the jungle and also the sample of a single person could be gathered during medico-legal examination. The Forensic report on the girl's seized attires was still pending, however, the Special Public Prosecutor of the case Bivas Chatterjee said, adding: "The biological samples gathered during the examination were very important evidence in the case."
The TI parade (under Section 54 of the BNSS) was constructed under the supervision of the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate of Durgapur Court, Rajib Sarkar. It took barely 12 minutes and the girl returned to her guest house room shortly. The ACJM said that the entire process of TI parade was videographed, and this will be submitted before the Court on 27 October - the next production date of the accused. The officials didn't divulge anything about whom the girl had identified today as the culprit, however.
