Medic's gang rape: Boyfriend, 3 ordered JC for 5 days

The Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court has sent four of the gang rape accused, including the boyfriend of the victim girl, to jail custody till 27 October. On 24 October, the victim girl is scheduled to visit the Durgapur Correctional Home for Test Identification Parade under Section 54 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita. 
 
On last 19 October, two of the six accused  - Riazuddin Sheikh and Safikul Sheikh, meanwhile had desired to confess their involvement in the crime, which was granted by the Court and both were sent to Jail Custody. Yesterday, their statements were recorded (under Section 183 of the BNSS).
 
A second year medical student of IQ City Medical College here allegedly was gang raped on 10 October late evening after she, accompanied her boyfriend Wasif Ali to a small urban forest patch about 1 km from her college campus after 9 pm where she allegedly was raped and her cellphone was snatched by some local youths of Bijra village. The police, in 48 hours, had arrested five youths  - Riazuddin, Safikul, Nasiruddin Sheikh, Dipu Bauri and Firdos Sheikh accordingly and the snatched cellphone was recovered from their possession. The victim hailed from Jaleshwar, Odhisa, and her boyfriend hailed from Malda, West Bengal. 
 
The police slapped gang-rape and snatching charges [under Sections  - 70 (1), 3 (5), 317 (2) & 308 (2) against them. 
 
BJP leader and MLA, Durgapur (West), Lakshman Ghorui and his aides assembled at the Court compound when the accused were taken and Ghorui claimed: "The police, under the instructions from the Trinamul Congress higher-ups has manipulated the medical examination report purposely to give a relief to the accused, since most of them were from the minority community." The incident rocked the nation, and the top BJP leaders had made beeline to Durgapur alleging that the law & order situation in Bengal had collapsed and the state was no more safe for the female inhabitants.
 
Cyber expert Bivas Chatterjee assigned by the Asansol Durgapur Police Commissionerate appeared on state's behalf and opposed the bail petitions of the four of the accused including the victim girl’s boyfriend Wasif Ali produced before the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court this afternoon. They were denied bail after both - Special PP Chatterjee and Partha Ghosh  - lawyer for the victim opposed citing reasons that the Test Identification Parade of the accused was still pending.
