The rape victim's perplexed, shattered 50 year old father, standing on the crossroads leading to his daughter's medical college murmured in disgrace when the sun was going down the western horizon behind the tall highrises of the IQ City: "How many? how many of the beasts actually were there in the jungle, just 'the three' or more, or much less than was anticipated, I was still not confirmed either by the police, or the hospital where my daughter still struggles to overcome her trauma."

The parties, however, chose to bother least about the traumatised girl and the maimed father and continued tirelrss agitation throughout the day both in the troubled college and the helpless police station.

The 20 year old second year MBBS student had been to a 'night safari' into an urban peri forest patch of Pardo village - barely 1 km from her IQ City Medical College hostel on Friday night at 9 pm with her boyfriend where she allegedly was gang raped by a group of outsider youths. The victim and her boyfriend, though, claimed that the miscreants were five in number, the police arrested three persons from the adjacent Bijra village today. The accused were allowed ten days police remand to help further investigations. The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Durgapur, Abhishek Gupta said today: "Three accused were booked and the hunt for the other two are in progress."

The police arrested Sekh Rejauddin, Apu Bauri and Firdos Sekh of Bijra today. Earlier, in the morning hours, drones were used to prepare an areal videography of the spot. They, according to the sources, were boozing in the jungle area. They, the sources claimed, had attacked the girl and her boyfriend when they found them in compromising situation there. They had snatched cash and the cellphone of the girl, which incidentally had led the police to track the number and identity the accused.

The college authorities, in an official report stated that the girl student was accompanied by a boy student and on return to campus after dinner had further left the campus at 8:58 pm Friday through the rear entrance. At 9:31 pm, the girl was seen walking towards her hostel room in a CCTV grab. The director, IQ City Medical College, Sudarshana Gangulee claimed: "Venturing outside the campus after 8 pm was restricted and prohibited." She said, sn inquiry has been ordered to ascertain, why the security guards at the gate didn't prevent them.

The almost 'broken' 50 year old father of the victim meanwhile said: "This college has given me the worst ever lesson, which I won't forgive. Now it's time for pack up. I shall relocate her to Bhuvaneswar medical college and the Odhisa Chief Minister already has assured so."

He himself runs a science college in Jaleshwar in Baleswar district of Odhisa. He said: "Many bigwigs in Odhisa government are well known to me. We are a prominent family. Besides the college, I have medicine distributorship and one retail outlet, too." His elder daughter is an Agricultural officer in Varanasi and his only son is preparing for NEET. He said: "He wants to become a physician and now, after this massacre, I have changed my mind and won't allow him to pursue further on that anymore." He, with his wife had stayed back here last night at the house of Parijat Ganguly, a youth BJP Morcha leader.

The police today barricaded the 'crime spot' after the National Women's Commission member Archana Majumdar had raised charges of negligence in investigation against the police yesterday evening. Today, a Forensic team also trued to collect samples from the spot. The Commissioner of Asansol Durgapur Police, Sunil Chowdhury meanwhile visited the hospital and took stock of medical status of the girl.
