Illicit affair: Bank staff stabbed to death in Bankura, 4 arrested

A young bank employee was killed in Bankura and the police, considering the primafacie, claimed, it was a result of an extramarital affair.

The police arrested four persons in connection with the murder after recovering the youth's corpse from a potato field last midnight.

Sumon Mondal (36) of Paharpur in Kotulpur PS area, Bankura was an employee of a private bank and was posted at Onda. He was on his way back home after his day's work yesterday evening on his motorcycle when a group attacked him at Mill Morh, allegedly. The police said, the assailants stabbed him from behind and then consecutively scooped him to death.

A local farmer who went to check irrigation in his farmland at around 10 pm found the youth's body lying dead on a potato field. The matter immediately was brought to the notice of police and the body was recovered after the midnight hours. The officials arrested one Ramprasad Roy and his three aides successively. The officials, after primary interrogation, estimated the motive behind the murder incident. The police said that the deceased was having an illicit affair with the wife of the key accused and declined to step down despite of repeated cautions, which prompted Roy to hatch the murder plan.
