Grand inauguration of SKS Medical College and Bengal Hospital in Durgapur

The industrial hub of Durgapur has already emerged as an educational hub. Students from across India come here to pursue education in various fields including engineering, medical, technical studies, and hotel management and have gone on to establish themselves globally. The region already boasts three renowned medical colleges and hospitals. Now, another feather is set to be added to Durgapur's cap on September 21, 2026.

The grand inauguration of SKS Medical College and Bengal Hospital, located on SSB Sarani in Bidhannagar within the Durgapur industrial zone, is scheduled for September 21, 2026. Shri Sunil Bansal, National General Secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party and the official in charge of West Bengal BJP, will be present at this inaugural ceremony.

At the auspicious inaugural ceremony several distinguished personalities, including Dr. Sharadwat Mukherjee, Minister-in-Charge of the Department of Health and Family Welfare, West Bengal, Sri Jagannath Chatterjee, Minister-in-Charge of the Department of Higher Education and Technical Education, West Bengal, Sri Chandrashekhar Banerjee, MLA of Durgapur Purba; Sri Lakshman Chandra Ghorui, Hon'ble MLA of Durgapur Paschim and S. Ponambalam, IAS, District Magistrate of Paschim Bardhaman will be also present.

A buzz of activity is already underway at SKS Medical College and Bengal Hospital in Bidhannagar. Observers anticipate that the establishment of this new medical college and hospital will generate significant employment opportunities in the healthcare sector of the Durgapur industrial region in the near future.
