Governor meets gang rape victim in Durgapur
Bengal Governor C.V. Anand Bose met the medical student who was gang-raped in Durgapur on Monday afternoon. Later, while addressing the media, he assured justice.
The Governor reached the private Medical College IQ Hospital in Shobhapur, durgapur at around 5 pm today. He stayed at the Medical College Hospital for about an hour. There, he also spoke to the victim and her parents who were undergoing treatment at the hospital. In addition, he also talked and discussed for a long time with officials and doctors of private medical colleges.
Later, while addressing reporters at the hospital, the Governor said, "It is a very painful incident. I have spoken to the victim and her family members. The victim is very scared and terrified. What she said is strictly confidential. I will do my best to ensure that the victim and her family get justice.This is not the first time such an incident has happened in the state. We have experienced several such incidents recently in bengal. Such incidents are highly undesirable in Bengal. Hopefully, we will be able to bring justice to this family."
It is noteworthy that the second-year student of a private MBBS medical college in Shobhapur, Durgapur, was gang-raped while going out to eat outside the college campus with a male classmate last friday night. As soon as the matter came to light, there was a stir across the state and the country. The police, after investigating, already arrested all five accused in the gang-rape incident.
