Feeling insecure, demanded restoration Z+ level security, MP Abhishek Banerjee moved the Calcutta High Court

"I have been receiving Z+ security since 2016. However, this level of security was abruptly withdrawn after 4th May 2026." Diamond Harbour MP Abhishek Banerjee has moved the Calcutta High Court, demanding its restoration.

Abhishek Banerjee has claimed that the central government had provided this level of security to Members of Parliament across the country. However, he informed the High Court that his security cover was withdrawn immediately after the BJP won the election in Bengal.

Abhishek requested an urgent hearing of the case before Justice Krishna Rao's bench. The judge granted his plea. It has been reported that the hearing for the case has been scheduled for 6th October 2026.

Diamond Harbour MP Abhishek Banerjee further alleged that he has been subjected to attacks on various occasions following his election defeat. His residence at Harish Mukherjee Road was also attacked. In his affidavit, he also mentioned facing an attack during a visit to Baruipur. He claims to be feeling insecure and has demanded the restoration of his previous Z+ level security.
