Asansol Division of Eastern Railway has issued a strong public safety alert to prevent accidents caused by trespassing and unsafe crossing of railway tracks. Trespassing and violation of safety rules at level crossings remain major causes of avoidable accidents and loss of life. Such incidents often occur due to carelessness, distraction and ignoring safety warnings. Trespassing on railway tracks is extremely dangerous and a punishable offence under railway law.

The Division is continuously running safety awareness campaigns through print and electronic media, social media and direct public interaction to educate people about the dangers of trespassing. Passengers and road users are being advised to use only authorized crossing points such as Level Crossing Gates and Limited Height Subways (LHS). Railway Protection Force teams are also counselling individuals found trespassing and warning them about the serious risks involved.

To enhance safety, an interlocked level crossing gate equipped with an Electrical Lifting Barrier (ELB) and standby sliding gate has been provided. The system connects train movement with gate operation, ensuring proper coordination between signalling and gate mechanisms, preventing unauthorized crossing and improving safety for both rail and road users. Increased use of LHS facilities is helping to reduce trespassing and ensure safer movement.

Asansol Division strongly warns all pedestrians, two-wheeler riders and drivers: When the level crossing gate is closed, stop and wait until it fully opens. Do not cross in a hurry. Never pass under the gate or try to cross with bicycles, goods or vehicles beneath the barrier. Do not walk on or cross railway tracks at unauthorized places. Ignoring safety rules can lead to serious accidents and loss of life. Your life is precious — stay alert, follow railway safety rules and stay safe.
