Eastern Railway Commemorates 150th Anniversary of “VANDE MATARAM” With Mass Singing Event
Asansol Division of Eastern Railway today joined the nation in celebrating the 150th anniversary of the patriotic song “Vande Mataram” with great fervour and devotion. To mark this historic occasion, a Mass Singing of “Vande Mataram” was organized at the New Conference Room of the Divisional Railway Manager’s Office, Asansol, in perfect sync with the nationwide event coordinated by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
Smt. Vinita Shrivastava, Divisional Railway Manager, Asansol Division/Eastern Railway, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. She was joined by the Additional Divisional Railway Manager, senior officers, and staff members of the division. The participants collectively rendered “Vande Mataram” in unison, echoing the spirit of patriotism and national pride that the song has evoked for generations.
In consonance with the Ministry of Culture’s appeal for collective participation across the nation, the Mass Singing of “Vande Mataram” was simultaneously organized at various railway stations and offices under Asansol Division. Passengers, station staff, and members of the Railway Protection Force enthusiastically participated in the rendition, making the event a grand success.
The song “Vande Mataram”, originally composed by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay in 1875 and later included in his novel Anandamath, has been a symbol of India’s struggle for independence and an enduring expression of national devotion.
Asansol Division, through this collective effort, reaffirmed its commitment to preserving and promoting the nation’s cultural heritage while paying homage to one of India’s most inspiring creations.
