Eastern Railway continues to set new benchmarks in operational excellence and passenger safety with the successful commissioning of the Kavach anti-collision system over a 155 km section between Barddhaman and Pradhankhunta on the critical Howrah – New Delhi route. This achievement brings the total implementation of Kavach to 260 km within the current financial year, underscoring a steadfast commitment to the highest standards of rail safety.
Parallel to these safety enhancements, Eastern Railway has demonstrated exceptional fiscal discipline, successfully reducing Ordinary Working Expenses by 14.55% compared to the same period last year through strict financial management.

The zone’s revenue generation also remains robust across multiple sectors. Scrap sale revenue for the month of February reached Rs 70.22 Crore, surpassing the target of Rs 54.5 Crore by an impressive 28.84%. Furthermore, passenger revenue saw a significant boost, totaling Rs 244.22 Crore in February 2026, which marks a 12.01% increase over the corresponding month of the previous year.

These collective achievements reflect Eastern Railway’s holistic approach toward modernizing infrastructure while maintaining strong economic growth.
