Durgapur Honours Fallen Hero of the Indian Army

The District Administration and the Indian Army officially conducted the final rites for No 21010866N Rk Nk (Gnr) Ajay Jaiswal of 323 Med Regt, who made the supreme sacrifice during an operational training exercise in Jammu & Kashmir.

Ceremonial Arrival & Public Rally
The mortal remains of the Battle Casualty arrived at Durgapur Airport yesterday. In a massive display of national solidarity, a Public Tribute Rally—attended by senior State Ministers, local MPs, and high-ranking Military Officials—gathered at his residence at Mamra Bazar, Vidyasagar Pally. Thousands of citizens lined the streets to pay their final respects as the procession passed through the City Centre.

Final Rites & Cremation
The final journey concluded with full military honours and state protocol on 13 March 2026.
* Honours: The Indian Army performed a traditional wreath-laying ceremony at the cremation site
* Attendance: Dignitaries joined the grieving family to offer their deepest condolences and recognize the soldier’s "indomitable courage."

Legacy of Service
Born on 11 Aug 1998, Ajay Jaiswal joined the Army on 25 Sep 2017. He is survived by his father, Sh Sanjay Jaiswal, his mother, Smt Pravin Debi Jaiswal, and his brother, Mr Bijay Jaiswal. His devotion to the nation and his ultimate sacrifice will forever be etched in the history of Bardhaman.
