DPS Accountant loot Rs 6 Lakh, arrested

The accountant of the CBSE affiliated Delhi Public School here allegedly had pilfered Rs 6 Lakh cash in phases from the school's account and he was intercepted by the police from his rented house today.

Manish Narayan - the accountant hailed from Jharkhand and had joined the school five years ago. The school authorities recently realised that substantial amount of fund had disappeared from the school's monthly fees collection account and began a hunt.

After investigations, the school identified Manish as the culprit and a complaint was registered against him with the New Township Police Station last night. The police intercepted him from his rented house this morning. Also, a cooler machine and an air-conditioning machine of the school were recovered from his possession, the police said.

The accountant was remanded for four days by the Special Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court today.
