Cold waves, fog to intensity bites for 3 days

Cold wave is set to rule the South Bengal horizons for next three days from Wednesday morning, warned the Metereological experts of the Alipore weather office on Tuesday afternoon. The officials have asked the citizens of the respective districts not to venture out of their homes unnecessarily.

 The Meteorological department today has issued three days forecast notices for nine South Bengal districts that warned about persisting cold waves and dense fogs reducing visibility between 199 metres to 50 metres in the morning hours.

The Head, Eastern Region of the Regional Meteorological Department's Alipore headquarters in Kolkata issued the warning notice at 1:30 pm today that hinted that the maximum day temperature likely to be below normal by 3 to 5 Degree Celsius for three days from tomorrow in the districts like North & South 24 Parganas, East & West Burdwan, Hooghly, Birbhum, Murshidabad, Nadia. The notice stated: "On Wednesday, cold day and cold wave conditions very likely to occur at one or two places over Birbhum and East Burdwan."

On Friday from 8:30 am till 8:30 pm, the horizon will be covered under dense fogs that, according to the notice, is likely to pull down the atmospheric temperature to 5.5 Degrees Celsius in several locations.
