Cleanliness, awareness & innovation initiatives special campaign 5.0

As part of Special Campaign 5.0, Asansol Division of Eastern Railway undertook focused cleanliness drives, awareness programmes and innovative activities across stations, offices, schools and maintenance units. The campaign aimed to enhance cleanliness standards, promote sustainable practices, ensure efficient asset management and improve record maintenance across the division.
 
At Asansol station, intensive cleaning of glass panels, walls and other structures was carried out, resulting in a clear improvement in overall aesthetics and passenger ambience. Before-and-after documentation highlighted the transformation achieved through systematic effort. At the Electric Loco Shed Asansol, drainage lines and passage areas near the Pit Wheel Lathe section were thoroughly cleaned to prevent waterlogging and maintain a safe work environment for staff.
 
At Eastern Railway High School Andal, a “Waste to Art” competition was organised to encourage students to creatively reuse discarded materials. The winners were Master Ayushman Arora (Class I) first, Master Soumyadeep Kundu (Class III) second and Miss Sampurna Roy (Class II) third. The event inspired students to embrace environmental responsibility and creative sustainability.
 
At Andal station, all key works under Special Campaign 5.0 were completed. Activities included cleaning of circulating areas, footbridge, booking office and waterlogged zones, improvement of passenger amenities, maintenance of public utilities and disposal of unserviceable materials. Record management was also reviewed to ensure systematic organisation and timely weeding out of old files.
 
These coordinated efforts across various locations reflect the strong commitment of Asansol Division towards the objectives of Special Campaign 5.0 — achieving cleaner surroundings, operational efficiency and better passenger experience through teamwork and accountability.
