On May 1, Shri Shri Nagendra Math and Nagendra Mission in Kolkata organized a religious and cultural programme to mark the auspicious occasion of Buddha Purnima. The Math, imbued with the spiritual legacy of Bhaduri Mahashaya—revered worldwide as “The Levitating Saint” and known as Paramahamsa Maharshi Nagendranath—witnessed day-long rituals and observances. Alongside the daily worship, a special Satyanarayan Puja was held, drawing a notable gathering of devotees.
In the evening, devotional prayers were accompanied by the rendition of Paramarthasangit, composed and set to tune by Paramahamsa Maharshi Nagendranath. Conducted by resident student Shekhar Mondal, the musical presentation created a serene and spiritually uplifting atmosphere.
The concluding segment of the programme featured a commemorative meditation and a scriptural discourse centered on the life and teachings of Lord Buddha. The meditation was led, and a talk on “The Influence of Lord Buddha on Our Religious Beliefs” was delivered by Puranic researcher Dr. Subhadip Bandyopadhyay, a descendant of Bhaduri Mahashaya.
The overall planning and smooth execution of the programme were made possible through the dedicated efforts of Dr. Rabindranath Kar, Secretary of Nagendra Math; Debashis Bose, Treasurer; and Sanjay Bhattacharya, Treasurer of Nagendra Mission.
