Bobby Chakraborty Global ANTI ADDICTION awareness campaign in Red light areas

Bobby Chakraborty a renowned actor/activist/teacher of method acting from Kolkata-India,has been singlehandedly carrying out his global,free of cost awareness program, ‘I AM THE KING OF MY MIND', aimed at the youth,for the past 2 decades,in more than 480 schools, colleges, universities, orphanages and red light areas all around the world.

Today we will learn from him,his experiences of organising his anti addiction campaigns,specifically for the children and the sex workers of the red light areas.

Bobby recounts:-

“ Out of my vast and vivid experiences for last two decades in worldwide educational institutions and other organisations,in villages, cities,townships of all sizes and enormity,I have realized the problem or the door to darkness,for an individual,remain the same for every strata, demographic and area…only the path leading to that darkness and destruction varies accordingly.

My effort,aim or initiative is to guide a child, young mind or an individual to avoid that dark path of addiction (smoking, alcoholism, substance abuse, smart phones) and harmful social trends (abusive language, online obscenity to gain popularity, online gambling through video games, ragging, bullying) and walk the brighter path in life, keeping HCF(Health-Career-Family) as a priority and learning the ways of controlling ones own mind.

My campaigns in the red light areas over the past 2 decades have been the most difficult, yet extremely satisfying.

On a regular basis,I face this severe challenge of educators from the affluent part of the society, who are in a complete denial mode,that these dangers exist for a child! So you can as well imagine, the hardships I have to go through,to organise my campaigns,in that part of the underprivileged society, where education has not reached…where the system wants these evils to persist and gulp down an individual…where the norm is to drown in addiction from a very young age.

I had to cross paths with unscrupulous politicians, mafias, and other organisations in the past, before I could assemble the sex workers and their children for my campaigns here, but the feedbacks after my sessions, especially from the Kalighat, Sonagachi,Watgung, Munshiganj areas have been resounding.
I have grown a strong bond with the children and their mothers here.

I have been a part of other sports and cultural events here, beyond my awareness program. I have regularly taken out the children to enjoy during Durga Puja, Diwali and Christmas…for a day out at movies and malls. I have sponsored children from here for their studies too.

Overall I feel happy that God has given me this opportunity in life…to spread this much needed awareness among children specifically,through my anti addiction campaign…to give back to my society.
