Bhangor Boi Mela 2026: A Book Fair with a difference

Books are the medium between a human brain and the knowledge that the universe has to offer to it. With the advent of technology, a harmful trend is making books or the habit of reading obsolete. The imagination or power to analyze a word into an imagery is visibily getting diminished among children.

Keeping that damage in mind, Bhangar Boi-Mela Committee, 24 Parganas(South),under the strict supervision of social entrepreneur Abdur Rouf Khan, the secretary Kaushik Saradar and his team along with the chairman Hon'ble MLA Saokat Molla, has been organising this magnificent book fair for 9 years now, with a lot of fanfare.

The 2026 edition was held on the sprawling Bhangar High School ground from 3rd - 9th January, which hosted numerous book stalls, cultural programs by hundreds of students, creative contests, debates, social service and much more.

Renowned actor/activist/teacher of method acting Bobby Chakraborty, along with social entrepreneur/teacher/activist Mimi Das graced the event on 8th January and encouraged the youth to read more books and lead a healthy life free of addiction.
