“Aamar Kolkata Metro” app latest version Inaugurated

The latest version of the Aamar Kolkata Metro app, which allows passengers to book tickets online at discounted rates while avoiding long queues, was inaugurated on Friday 24th October,  at the Foundation Day Celebration Programme of Metro Railway, Kolkata.
 
 
After the opening of the entire section of Green Line Corridor, huge passenger footfall has been noticed at various stations. In order to sell Metro Smart Cards and to popularize “AAMAR KOLKATA METRO” app for smart booking of mobile QR tickets Metro Railway, Kolkata has launched a special campaign programme. wherein staff of Metro Railway and Eastern Railway have been helping and demonstrating the commuters about how to download the app through Google play store/ app store and how to book mobile QR tickets with the help of the app.  For such purpose special counters have been opened at various major metro stations outside the booking offices. A percentage of  bonus on the issue or recharge amount of the Metro Smart Card is being offered. Commuters are requested to buy Smart Cards or buy tickets through mobile app. Metro Railway is also arranging additional booking counters at the major stations so that commuters can book tickets comfortably.
 
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Subhransu Sekhar Mishra, General Manager, Metro Railway, highlighted how from operating a 3.4 km stretch between Esplanade and Bhowanipore at its inception in1984, the nation's oldest metro network currently covers five colour-coded lines servicing 58 stations, with a total route length of 73.42km. This will undergo further expansion in the coming years, to ensure even greater connectivity and passenger convenience. Eminent filmmaker Shri Ashoke Vishwanathan and Shri Satyaki Nath, Principal Chief Operations Manager, Metro Railway, Kolkata, were also present at the New Esplanade Metro Station where the programme was organised. Both the dignitaries spoke about Metro's eminence as the swiftest, cleanest and cheapest mode of commuting in Kolkata.The celebration also featured a Sanskrit recital of the Ganga Stotra and a magic show.
