Urine: Dalits forced to drink and clean in UP & MP
It seems the Dalits have many more miles to go for basic minimum dignity and honour in states like Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh where they still are outraged, raped, assaulted and dishonoured just because of their identity.Â

The UP and MP states recorded two consecutive cases of assaults and atrocities against the Dalits out of petty reasons that meanwhile have drawn attention to national politics today.

The Opposition parties claimed that the BJP was failing to protect life dignity and honour of the Dalits.

An elderly Dalit man was allegedly assaulted at a temple in Lucknow after he accidentally urinated in the premises due to illness. The accused made him lick his urine and then wash the temple courtyard, using caste-based slurs.Â

Rampal Rawat - the victim lodged a written complaint at the Kakori Police Station, seeking justice. Police have registered a case under relevant sections based on the complaint. The accused has been taken into custody and is currently being interrogated. Assistant Commissioner of Police Kakori, Shakeel Ahmed, confirmed that action is being taken as per the complaint. The accused is in police custody, and investigation is ongoing.

Some social organisations have demanded strict actions against the accused who claimed to have allegiance with the RSS.

Swami Kant, also known as Pammu, a resident of Kakori, allegedly confronted Rampal. He accused him of desecrating the temple, abused him verbally, and forced him to lick his urine.

The incident took place at Sheetla Mata Temple in Kakori town. The victim, Rampal, is an elderly man from Hata Hazrat Sahab who suffers from a respiratory illness. On Monday, he was sitting in the temple courtyard when he accidentally urinated because of his health condition.Â

Rawat’s grandson, Mukesh Kumar, told that his grandfather suffers from breathing issues and may have accidentally urinated while coughing. “He got scared and obeyed when Pammu forced him. Later, he was made to wash the spot,” Kumar said.

The incident drew sharp political reactions. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav condemned the act, calling it “inhumane and humiliating."

A 25-year-old Dalit man in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhind district allegedly was abducted, beaten, and forced to drink urine by his former employer and two others.

Police said the accused, identified as Sonu Barua, Alok Sharma, and Chhotu Ojha, were arrested under the SC/ST Act and multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

According to police, the victim was kidnapped from his in-laws’ home in Gwalior, taken to Bhind in an SUV, and brutally assaulted after he quit working as Barua’s driver.

“They beat me with a plastic pipe and forced me to drink urine from a bottle,” the victim told reporters this afternoon, adding that he was later tied with an iron chain and humiliated again.
