Soccer superstar Sir David Beckham is now a Knight! He was honoured with Knighthood by the British empire during the birthday ceremony of King Charles at the Windsor Castle in Berkshire yesterday evening.

Fifty year old Beckham was accommodated in the 'King's Birthday Honour List' and was knighted for his contributions to football, charity and tireless services to the British society, a Royal Palace release said.

"I couldn't be prouder," said Beckham. "People know how patriotic I am - I love my country the most," he said.

Beckham continued saying: "I've always said how important the monarchy is to my family. I'm lucky enough to have travelled around the world and all people want to talk to me about is our monarchy. It makes me proud."

Sir David Beckham became a member of the small and exclusive band of people from the football industry to receive one of the highest honours in the United Kingdom — a knighthood from the royal family.

This was originally announced in last June in 'The Gazette', - the official organ of public record, as part of King Charles III’s official birthday honours — one of the two occasions each year when the ruling monarch honours a selection of people for their 'significant contributions' to the country.

Beckham was joined by his wife Victoria and his parents Sandra and David at Windsor Castle.

Victoria, who received an OBE in 2017 for services to the fashion industry, designed and made the suit that her husband wore at the castle.
