Fit India Sundays on Cycle Concludes Successfully in Kolkata

The year-end special edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle was successfully held today at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) campus, Salt Lake, Kolkata, marking the 54th and final edition of the nationwide fitness movement for the calendar year 2025. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from hundreds of cyclists, fitness enthusiasts and citizens from across the city, reaffirming Kolkata’s growing commitment to the  active and healthy living.
 
The event was headlined by eminent sportspersons including four-time Olympian and former World No. 1 archer, Padma Shri and Arjuna Awardee Deepika Kumari, along with Olympians and Arjuna Awardees Atanu Das, Rahul Banerjee, Bombayla Devi Laishram, and Mangal Singh Champia. Olympian shooter Joydeep Karmakar and Dronacharya Awardee Dr. Kuntal Roy were also present, lending inspiration and encouragement to the participants.
 
The morning began with a vibrant cycling drive, followed by a series of engaging activities including fitness sessions, Zumba, rope skipping, yoga, cultural performances and interactive public engagement events. The diverse lineup reflected the inclusive ethos of the Fit India Movement, making fitness accessible and enjoyable for people of all age groups.
 
Besides Kolkata, Fit India Sundays on Cycle was organised simultaneously at over 10,000 locations across the country, including Sports Authority of India and Khelo India centres, showcasing the nationwide scale and impact of the initiative.
 
Launched in December 2024 by Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Fit India Sundays on Cycle has grown into a people-driven movement promoting regular physical activity and greener mobility. To date, over 20 lakh citizens have participated across more than 2 lakh locations nationwide.
 
As the final edition of 2025, the Kolkata event symbolically brought the year to a close by uniting sporting excellence, community participation, and the message of “Fitness Ka Dose, Adha Ghanta Roz.”
