BLO died in cerebral hemorrhage that also gripped a 'deleted' voter in East Burdwan
A Booth Level Officer, perplexed with the paper works suffered a major cerebral hemorrhage while distributing enumeration forms door to door in Memari late last evening and died after being taken to the hospital.
Fifty year old Namita Hansda an Anganwari assistant of one SSK (Sisu Siksha Kendra) of Chalk Balaram area under No:2 Bohar Panchayat in Memari. She, according to her husband Madhab Hansda: "Was feeling quite discomfort since after she assumed the responsibility as a BLO." He said: "After her routine school work, my wife was distributing forms tirelessly as she was under huge pressure unleashed by the Commission officials, which seemed to be unbearable for her and this critical and controversial job claimed my wife's life."
Namita fell on the ground while she was distributing forms at Bangalpukur locality of Bohar Panchayat of East Burdwan area late last evening. The Booth Level Assistants of different political parties, and the local police together immediately shifted her to Memari Block Hospital where she died within an hour. The police said: "She was almost unconscious while was shifted to the hospital."
Kshitish Sharma, by profession a driver, is a resident of Mahaprabhu Para locality in Kalna town and was suffering from severe depression as the names of his entire family members couldn't be traced back in the Electoral Roll of 2002. The Election Commission's 2002 Electoral Rolls mysteriously have deleted the names of alive voters, which shocked Kshitish. His daughter visited the Kalna - 1 BDO's office yesterday seeking for assistance on the matter. Sharma, as the family members claimed, suffered a cerebral stroke while driving on an assignment. He felt sick and was immediately shifted to the Kalna Superspecialty Hospital last evening where he's still kept under medical supervision.
State Animal Resources Minister and local MLA, Swapan Debnath today visited him at the hospital and talked to the physicians on his health condition. The Minister said: "The Commission, aided by the BJP has unleashed a terror in the state, which has frightened the common residents. Sharma's case was a fit example of this."
As on 9 November, the BLOs of East Burdwan distributed 36,25,801 enumeration forms, which counts 86.78 percent of the total enumerators of the district.
