Nowadays, a portion of children are born with diabetes, thyroid, blood pressure, cholesterol, obesity, etc. Medicine is becoming a daily necessity for people. In order to live a healthy life, people have started looking for alternative ways. That's when 'yoga' appeared in front of people. Since ancient times, different sages of India have kept themselves healthy for a long time by using 'Yoga' or 'Yogasana'.

The practice of 'Yoga' is an ancient method of staying healthy by connecting the body, mind and spirit. It is not just exercise, its true meaning is consciousness. Its general meaning is 'union'. Yoga harmonizes and unites the three - body, mind and energy. Through regular yoga practice, a sick body becomes healthy. A healthy body becomes more refreshed and a restless and anxious mind begins to calm down. A healthy body becomes more refreshed and a restless and anxious mind becomes calm. Keeping in view all these benefits, ‘Yogasana Bharat’ has been established under the ‘Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports’ of the Government of India with the aim of promoting and encouraging yoga among everyone in country.
The first ever National Para Yogasana Sports Championship 2025-26 was organized by Yogasana Bharat from 26th to 28th September at the Morarji Desai National Yoga Institute in Delhi. Along with various states of the country, 14 members of the 'All Bengal Yogasana Sports Association' participated in this competition. Out of these, three from the Bankura district got a chance to participate in this Championship. They are all sellected by 'All Bankura Yogasana Sports Association'. They are – Sayan Saha of Sonamukhi 'Club Paradise', Ankita Mukherjee of Kotulpur 'Vivekananda Club' and Dev Kumar Das, a teacher at Sonamukhi Kochdihi High School. Bimal Karak, a special educator from Bishnupur Uttar Chakra Sampada Kendra, has been given the responsibility of coaching the Bengal men's team.

Overcoming all obstacles, Sayan Saha won the gold medal in the men's under-20 OH-B category and Ankita Mukherjee won the gold medal in the women's under-20 OH-A category in this Championship, making Bankura, and West Bengal, shine with glory. Even though he did not win a medal, Dev Kumar Babu's efforts impressed the all present event judge. With this good news, Deeptambar Haldar, Secretary of 'All Bankura Yogasana Sports Association' said, "This is good news not only for Bankura but for the entire state. Hopefully, from now on, parents will not be disappointed with their children with special needs and will make them practice Yogasana regularly."
