Asansol Division of Eastern Railway has recorded a significant improvement in cement loading performance during the current financial year, reaffirming its important role in supporting infrastructure growth and economic development in the region. During the period from April to December 2025–26, the Division loaded 2.53 million tonnes of cement, as compared to 2.29 million tonnes in the corresponding period of 2024–25, registering a growth of 10.2 percent.

Cement is a vital input for infrastructure creation, and the significant improvement in loading performance has contributed to the timely execution of housing, road, railway, irrigation and urban development projects across various parts of the country. Enhanced rail-based movement has ensured reliable, economical and large-scale transportation of cement to major consumption centres, thereby strengthening the construction supply chain.

The improvement in cement loading has also generated positive economic outcomes for the surrounding regions of Asansol Division. Better logistics support and improved rail connectivity have enabled cement manufacturers to enhance production efficiency and market access, leading to increased industrial activity and employment opportunities in associated sectors. The increased preference for rail transport has further supported environmental sustainability by reducing fuel consumption and road congestion.

This performance reflects the Division’s focused efforts in improving operational efficiency, ensuring timely availability of rakes and strengthening coordination with customers. In line with Indian Railways’ freight policy, Asansol Division continues to promote rail as a safe, energy-efficient and environmentally responsible mode for bulk transportation, contributing to the nation’s infrastructure-led growth.

Asansol Division remains committed to further improving freight performance through infrastructure augmentation, customer-oriented initiatives and continuous operational monitoring.
