Karva Chauth celebrated with enthusiasm across India
In Sanatan Dharma, the month of Kartik holds special significance, during which all festivals are celebrated with enthusiasm. Karva Chauth is a cherished one-day festival celebrated annually by married Hindu women, symbolising their deep love for their husbands. Karwa Chauth is one of the most cherished festivals for married Hindu women, symbolizing unwavering love, devotion, and the sacred bond between partners. Celebrated on the fourth day of Krishna Paksha in Kartik month, it is marked by a sunrise-to-moonrise fast. This fast is observed for the longevity and well-being of husbands. Beyond its rituals, Karwa Chauth reflects deep emotional commitment, mutual respect, and spiritual connection in marriage. Through traditional practices, legends, and heartfelt prayers, the festival strengthens relationships. It enriches marital harmony, making it a timeless celebration of faith and togetherness. Karva Chauth is predominantly celebrated in Northern Indian states such as Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan.

Karva Chauth nowadays also celebrated widely among the Bengalis. In around industrial region of asansol Durgapur area many Hindu organization organised special prayer and puja in different temples. Married women wearing red with yellow clothes performing the fast of Karva Chauth. Offering water to the moon with an earthen Karva (pot) fulfills the wish for the husband's long life. Worshipping Goddess Parvati helps maintain happiness and peace in married life. Additionally, chanting mantras dedicated to Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva enhances the spiritual power of the fast. Offering charity to married women, gifting bangles, sindoor, or clothes is also considered auspicious on this day.
According to religious beliefs, observing this fast on the fourth day of the Krishna Paksha of Kartik brings sweetness in the relationship between husband and wife and ensures a happy married life. This year, Karva Chauth was celebrated on 10th October 2025. The Chaturthi Tithi begins on the night of 9th October at 10:54 pm and ends on 10th October at 7:38 pm. The moonrise will be at 7:42 pm. The auspicious time for worship is from 6:06 pm to 7:19 pm. The fasting period is from 6:21 am to 8:34 pm. However, if special materials and procedures are not followed during the puja, the fast is considered incomplete. From an emotional perspective, the festival enhances mutual respect and understanding, creating a deeper sense of trust and affection. It is also a time for couples to reflect on their relationship, express gratitude, and renew their promises.
